Monday marked a first in the history of professional sports in our state. For the first time, Utah's NBA and NHL hockey teams played regular-season games on the same night. The Utah Hockey Club played its fifth home game of the season on Delta Center ice, while the Jazz were on the road in Dallas. Wondering where you can watch the Jazz and Utah HC throughout the year? It's a little complicated and depends on which subscriptions and TV providers you have, but we've made it simple with our complete guide to watching the Jazz and Utah Hockey Club on TV. Hint: With a good antenna, you'll be able to watch most (though not all) of the regular-season games over the air. It was a difficult night, however, for both teams. Utah Jazz forward Taylor Hendricks suffered a gruesome leg injury and had to be taken off the court on a stretcher in the Jazz's eventual road loss. The Utah Hockey Club, meanwhile, gave up a three-goal lead late in the third period and lost in overtime to San Jose. |
| New poll: Three-quarters of Utah voters confident in vote by mail system |
|
| | Brigham Tomco reports on the findings on voter confidence from the latest Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll conducted by HarrisX. The poll asked: How confident or unconfident are you that votes cast by mail in Utah are counted as voters intended? How confident or not confident are you in the validity of the results of each of these elections — local, state and presidential? Here are our key takeaways: 75% of Utah voters trust mail-in votes are accurately counted, poll finds. But Republicans and independents have significantly less confidence in presidential elections. Reforms may be needed to how mail-in ballots are returned, but how reforms are discussed and implemented matters. Read more about the poll and its results. And when all the seats were filled, the remaining students simply plopped down on the floor. “Thank you so much for joining our meeting today,” said high school senior and club co-founder Kaylee Arsenault, greeting her fellow club members. “Today’s theme will focus on stocks and the stock market.” The genesis of the Herriman High School’s Girls Investing Club was sparked last spring when Arsenault and her friend Lizzie Anderson were participating in an international conference for Distributive Education Clubs of America — aka DECA, a nonprofit organization that prepares students for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
