Today in the news, President Donald Trump has pulled the United States out of the Venice Biennale, deeming the exhibition spotlighting artists from more than 80 countries “too diverse.” Instead, he's opening a new museum right at home: The Smithsonian Museum of the American Proud Boy. Meanwhile, a Nebraska museum claims to have discovered five never-before-seen variants on Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” (1893), depicting emotions like happiness, boredom, and sadness.

Here in New York, Anna Wintour just announced the theme of this year’s Met Gala: “Fascisms.” This 20th-century movement has been flattened in art history, she argues: “Fascists are not a monolith.” And the Brooklyn Museum institutes a new “Pay What We Wish” policy in response to budget deficits.

Read more below for a new study that shows that the majority of artists only read reviews of their own work (except for the occasional hate-read of rival artists); an archeological discovery that predicted the coming of Saint Luigi; and Art Is Blind, a spin-off of Love Is Blind wherein curators fall in love with paintings through a wall.
