| News Releases Romney commends nomination of District Court Judge for Utah Following a recommendation by Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT), President Biden has announced his intent to nominate Ann Marie McIff Allen to serve as United States District Court Judge for the District of Utah. Judge Allen is a graduate of Brigham Young University J. Reuben Clark Law School and was appointed to the Fifth District Courtâserving Iron, Beaver, and Washington countiesâin August 2020 by Governor Gary R. Herbert. âHaving reviewed her record and evaluated her qualifications, it is clear that Judge Allen is exceptionally qualified to serve as U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Utah,â Senator Romney said. âA native of Southern Utah, Judge Allen has worked for almost two decades as a prosecutor, public defender, private civil attorney, and General Counsel for Southern Utah Universityâcurrently serving as associate presiding judge on the Fifth District Court.
