Good afternoon

She was evacuated to Blackpool in the war and never lost her affection for the county which helped make her the remarkable person she was.
Dame Barbara Windsor, star of the Carry On films and Eastenders, died last night and today we will be paying tribute through words and pictures throughout the day - keep an eye on lep.co.uk as we add more pictures from our archives and words of tribute.
We covered the story earlier in the week when the FA decided to halt grassroots football in certain parts of the county to battle Covid-19. Now South Ribble Council is challenging the decision, saying 'We hope restrictions are lifted with immediate effect.'
Meanwhile, reporter James Holt has been talking to parents who lost their premature daughter Ivy-Mae, yet despite the tragedy, have been determined to give back to those who helped them at their darkest time.
And Catherine Musgrove reports how Preston's Harris Museum marked the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain with local people's stories.
As always, thanks for your support throughout the week, and I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Don't forget you can support journalism in the local community by subscribing to lep.co.uk

Kind regards,
Nicola
