Tuberville says immigrants coming to US are ‘garbage’

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, in an interview Tuesday on the Fox Business show “Kudlow,” said most immigrants coming into the country are “garbage.”

Referring to Vice President Kamala Harris, who President Joe Biden said in 2021 would have special duties related to addressing the roots of immigration at the southern border, Tuberville overstated the number of people crossing the border.

The unauthorized immigrant population in the United States grew to 11 million in 2022, according to new Pew Research Center estimates based on the 2022 American Community Survey, the most recent year available.

Early test on 2030 Census coming to Alabama

Six places in the South and West will host practice runs four years prior to the 2030 U.S. census, a nationwide head count that helps determine political power and the distribution of federal funds.

Residents in Huntsville, Alabama, will be encouraged to fill out practice census questionnaires starting in the spring of 2026, U.S. Census Bureau officials said Monday.

The statistical agency hopes the practice counts will help it learn how to better tally populations that were undercounted in the 2020 census; improve methods that will be utilized in 2030; test its messaging, and appraise its ability to process data as it is being gathered, Census Bureau officials said.

Who is the highest paid college president in Alabama?

Salaries vary widely for college presidents in Alabama — from nearly $1 million on the high end to a low of less than $200,000.

In addition to their base salaries, some presidents get vehicle and housing allowances or bonuses for meeting enrollment benchmarks or other goals. One gets an allowance for country club dues.

UAB, The University of Alabama and Auburn unsurprisingly make up the top three, but you need to check out the whole list to see just how much they make.
