The release of the hostages over the weekend was a great piece of news, challenging the narratives pushed by the mainstream media that Israel's military actions are not effective in freeing the hostages in Gaza. Israel was celebrating this incredible milestone, but today we received tragic news. This morning, four IDF soldiers were killed, and six others were wounded in an explosion in Rafah. Maj. Tal Pshebilski Shaulov, 24, from Gedera, St.-Sgt. Eitan Karlsbrun, 20, from Modi'in, Sgt. Yair Levin, 20, from Givat Harel, and Sgt. Almog Shalom, 19, from Kibbutz Hamadia lost their lives in a building collapse in the Al-Bura neighborhood of Rafah, an area known for its terrorist shafts, booby-trapped houses, and extensive weapon caches. In the same incident, six other soldiers sustained injuries, including an officer who was seriously injured. The incident occurred during a joint operation with the Nahal Brigade. Givati Soldiers entered a three-story building and deployed a concussive charge intended to trigger any hidden IEDs. Tragically, the explosion that followed after the soldiers entered caused the building to collapse, resulting in these heartbreaking losses. May their memory be a blessing. As we mourn these heroes, we recognize the immense price of this war for our people. The situation in Israel remains incredibly challenging.
