BY DOUG GRAHAM | Staff writer As the Nov. 5 Election Day looms, voters are preparing to select a mayor-president in East Baton Rouge Parish. To help you make your choice, we have profiles of all the hopefuls, from the leading candidates — incumbent Sharon Weston Broome, Democrat Ted James and Republican Sid Edwards — as well as the others in the running: Steve Myers, "Champagne" Roundtree, Nathaniel Hearn and Ryan "Bad Biddness" Carter. If no single candidate receives a majority of votes, the two candidates with the most votes will go on to a runoff election Dec. 7. Educate yourself on the mayoral candidates. Despite early forecasts predicting the return of La Niña by late summer, the complex weather pattern has yet to emerge this fall. La Niña is associated with more tropical activity in the Atlantic Ocean, so its slow emergence could be good news for the storm-weary South.
