He paints both in the studio and plein air. His paintings have been juried into prestigious exhibits and plein air events around the country. Tom holds signature status in the Southwestern Watercolor Society (SWS) in Dallas and the Society of Watercolor Artists (SWA) in Fort Worth. Tom is a native of Colorado and presently resides in North Texas. His Colorado roots run deep and he still calls it home. He draws inspiration from anywhere that he finds rural subjects, but particularly loves the American Southwest. ARTIST STATEMENT: I get a great deal of satisfaction from painting subjects with which I have an emotional connection. I am always drawn to rural landscapes with old dilapidated barns and out buildings. It can be something as simple as the sun hitting the cupola on an old barn or a cast shadow that is somewhat abstract that gets my attention. If the subject resonates with me, it's worth the time spent to paint it. In the end if the finished painting resonates with the viewer, I call that a win win. Creating Art is about Creating Magic.
