The Treasury Department’s computer systems were recently accessed by a Chinese state-sponsored hacker, according to U.S. officials, who described it as a “major cybersecurity incident.” The hacker was able to gain access to employee workstations as well as a number of unclassified documents, the department said. Treasury officials have been working with the FBI and other agencies to investigate the hack. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Washington DC told the BBC that the accusation was part of a "smear attack" and made "without any factual basis" ... |
