VPN Unlimited review: not the fastest, but consistently good

VPN Unlimitedis a privacy and unblocking service that offers a unique lifetime plan that promises incredible long-term value

The modern web is rife with potential threats, but VPN Unlimited offers a cost-effective way to keep your data private.

After examining its pricing and features, Digital Trends found the service to be most cost-effective after a single $200 lifetime payment. You can pay monthly, but the one-time payment is only three years and four months of the annual plan. If you’re going to use a VPN extensively, this is a great bang for your buck. There’s no free version, but you can give it a seven-day trial to see whether it fits you.

As for support, no chat option is available, though email inquiries received a prompt reply. Dive into the full review for all the details.

Apple Intelligence arrives with iOS 18.1 next week

But the best Apple Intelligence features aren't coming until after December

Apple Intelligence is one of the most anticipated features of iOS 18, and we can expect it sometime next week.

The upcoming iOS 18.1 update will mark the official launch of Apple Intelligence and include features like writing enhancements, notification summaries, and photo cleanup capabilities. Tablets and laptops will also receive these features through iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1. Internal reports suggest that Apple Intelligence still has a bit of catching up to do before it can stand toe-to-toe with ChatGPT and Gemini, though.

You Asked: 8K TVs and gaming, upscaling best bets, and the cone connection

Video games look better than ever, but do you need an 8K TV?

The recently announced PlayStation 5 Pro will be 8K compatible, so is it time for you to dust off the piggy bank and upgrade to a larger screen?

Digital Trends says yes. Between the raw power of modern gaming consoles and the ever-increasing demand for high-resolution streaming options, 8K is growing in demand. While video games aren't quite at 8K themselves, 4K gaming is commonplace — and it's a short throw to upscaling to 8K from 4K. High-res TVs are also more affordable now, even without being top of the line.

The best horror movies on Netflix right now

You don't need to leave home to scare yourself half to death

It's spooky season, and that means it's time to load up a horror movie or two and do your best to hold onto your popcorn.

Netflix has a wide range of options, including new titles like The Deliverance and A Quiet Place Part II. You can also watch kind-of (but not really) scary movies like World War Z. For any readers who prefer a mythological bent to their terror, The Babadook will keep you entertained, terrified, and touched throughout.

Netflix is a great one-stop shop for horror. Turn down the lights, pop some kernels, and find a warm blanket to hide under for the shower scene in Psycho.

Valve won’t release a Steam Deck 2 until there’s a proper ‘generational leap’

There might not be a Steam Deck 2 until late 2025 or beyond

The Steam Deck was a runaway success, selling over 1.6 million units in just 2022, with an estimate to hit 3 million units sold during 2023. Despite this reception, Valve says there won't be a successor until there is a proper "generational leap."

In an interview, two Steam Deck designers said there wouldn't be yearly, incremental bumps. The team wants to wait until the Steam Deck 2 can see a major jump in power without sacrificing battery life.

Don't worry, though. One is on the way, but we just aren't sure when. Read on for more details.
