OpenAI to use Financial Times content to train its AI technology | It follows similar deals OpenAI has inked with German publishing giant Axel Springer and the Associated Press, among others
| Eager to avoid legal shenanigans over the content that it uses to train its AI technology, ChatGPT-maker OpenAI has inked another news licensing deal, this time with the Financial Times (FT). The deal covers OpenAI’s use of the FT’s content for training its AI models, TechCrunch reported. The pair will also seek to develop “new AI products and features for FT readers,” the FT said, while ChatGPT users will be able “to see select attributed summaries, quotes, and rich links to FT journalism in response to relevant queries.” The FT said that it’s right “that AI platforms pay publishers for the use of their material,” adding that it’s “clearly in the interests of users that these products contain reliable sources” ... | |

All four carriers continued to sell access to location information without implementing protective measures even after they were told that their safeguards were ineffective, according to the FCC. Commenting on the case, FCC chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel said: “Our communications providers have access to some of the most sensitive information about us. These carriers failed to protect the information entrusted to them" ... | |
