Are Macs finally getting serious about gaming with discrete GPUs?

Next-gen M4 Macs will support ray tracing, report says

Those looking for serious gaming power have never had much luck with Apple's Mac series of computers, but that could be set to change soon. A new report from Power On says that the next generation M4 tier of Macs will support ray tracing for the first time, pointing to some serious hardware and focus on gaming abilities.

That implies that the M4 Macs might have their own discrete GPU, which would be a significant shift in the ways Apple approaches its hardware.

Surviving the extreme conditions of space: The little Roborock vacuum that could

Roborock’s S8 MaxV Ultra took a trip into the upper atmosphere and made it back to Earth, successfully. What an impressive feat and a testament to the durability and reliability of modern technology. But perhaps more relevant is the extreme nature of the trip.  Roborock has created this campaign to “push the boundaries,” of what’s possible, and to show off the sheer engineering excellence of its products. Space is a harsh environment. Almost nothing could survive a trip into outer space and back, at least not without proper protection. However, the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra has survived.

I was wrong about the iPhone 16

Our Mobile Editor changed his mind about the 60Hz screen

When the iPhone 16 was released last month, plenty of people had an issue with its screen, including our Mobile Editor Joe Maring. It lacked a 120Hz display, which seemed like a big disappointment for a flagship phone, and users had to make do with just 60Hz.

Now, though, having used the phone for a month, Maring says he has changed his mind - and that he finds the 60Hz display not nearly as big an issue as he thought it would be.

The Pro-Ject Juke Box E1 is an all-in-one vinyl delight

A turntable, amplifier, and speakers in one handy package

Getting into the world of vinyl can involve diving deep on every component, from the turntable to the amplifier, which for some people is part of the fun. But others are looking for a simple, all in one package that is good enough and lets them play records without any fuss.

That's where the Pro-Ject Juke Box E1 comes in, with its turntable, stereo receiver, and photo preamp all contained in one deck with an option to include bookshelf speakers as well. Our reviewer found the bundled speakers underwhelming, but the simplicity of the package and the Bluetooth connectivity to be winners.

Venom: The Last Dance fails to dazzle at the box office

The third installment in the series doesn't live up to the viewing numbers of its predecessors

Venom: The Last Dance had been predicted to have a huge debut weekend at the box office, but the first numbers suggest it hasn't lived up to the numbers of the two previous installments in the series. Earning just $22 million from its Friday and preview screenings, it seems that the movie won't reach its $65 million projected total for its opening weekend.

Those numbers may not be surprising as the Tom Hardy-led picture has been getting fairly negative reviews from critics, and it leaves open the question of what will happen to Sony's plans for Venom and related characters in future movies.
