High-end race bikes are vulnerable to hacking, researchers warn
| Systems can be used to gain an unfair advantage in cycling races
| Like most sports, professional cycling has become increasingly reliant on the use of the latest technology. But with that technological shift comes a danger of a new way to cheat. Researchers have found that the electronic gear systems used in high-end bikes can be hacked using a cheap device that leaves no trace. The popular Shimano Di2 gears can be hacked using software-defined radios, with researchers able to perform unintended gear shifts on bikes remotely. In a paper the researchers warn that attackers could use these systems to gain an unfair advantage in pro cycling races. | |

Image: Ajay Kumar / Digital Trends | The Google Pixel 9 phone series arrives to a mixed reception
| These phones are massive and disappointingly similar
| Google is releasing four new phones for its Pixel 9 series: the base model Pixel 9, plus the Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. They range in size from 6.3 inches up to 6.8 inches, and at almost 200 grams for the XL, they are relatively heavy, as well as being large. While some people have welcomed the power user features of the Pixel Pro being available in a (slightly) smaller size, the range has been a disappointment overall. The models are confusing and too similar, our mobile team writes. | |

Image: Phil Nickinson / Digital Trends | Sonos could bring back the previous version of its app
| The company is also laying off 6% of its employees
| Sonos has been in hot water with its customers for months, ever since it pushed an updated version of its mobile app, which broke features across its product line. Frustrated customers have made their views clear with dismal reviews for the new app version and a flood of complaints. Now, news has broken that Sonos has been discussing rereleasing its previous mobile app, called S2, to allow users to revert and get back the features they have been missing. This comes as the company also announces it is laying off approximately 6% of its workforce, or around 100 employees, as it will cost millions to fix the bungled software. | |

Aaron Taylor-Johnson gets vicious in Kraven the Hunter trailer
| The latest entry in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe debuts in December
| Sony's Spider-Man Universe has had its hits (like Venom and its sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage) and its misses (like, well, everything else. The less said about Mobius and Madame Web, the better.) But now the studio hopes to score another hit with Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the lead role of Kraven the Hunter. A new trailer shows Taylor-Johnson in violent action as a big-game hunter who goes to extremes to protect the animal kingdom, setting him up as a future villain. The trailer also includes the first look at classic Spider-Man villain Rhino. | |

Dragon Age: The Veilguard reportedly set for a Halloween release
| Leaks say the much-anticipated sequel is coming October 31
| A release date trailer for the highly anticipated new Dragon Agegame is expected to drop tonight, but ahead of that, a leak of the trailer has been spotted that puts the release date at October 31 this year. The Veilguard has had a bumpy time in terms of marketing, with an underwhelming reveal trailer in June, but a better-received gameplay reveal that followed. Dragon Age fans have been waiting for a continuation of the series since Inquisition in 2014, and the newest installment promises more enjoyable combat and character-focused storytelling. | |
