Good evening

The Indian variant is certainly cause for concern in this neck of the woods.

While so far we have not seen the number of cases in some parts of Lancashire, we cannot afford to be complacent.

Scientists believe that this particular variant has now spread to at least 48 countries across the globe ... so while it might be right to scrutinise the speed of our response to allowing travel between here and India, the likelihood is that it would have emerged here at some point anyway.

That said, there is much confusion at the moment around countries on our green list for travel and those on the amber list. Should we book holidays to amber list countries for later in the summer or would that just be wishful thinking?

And even if we stick to the green countries, is it likely that they will stay on that list or could they move? And what happens then?

The whole thing is enough to put you off foreign holidays for life, which might not necessarily be a bad thing for our local holiday resorts.

Let’s hope this is a boom year.

Until next time, take care,

Gillian
