Focus: To Gain Clarity on a Specific Issue Dear John, This time of year can be challenging for sales. It is difficult to get people on the telephone. It can be pain in the neck to convince a corporate committee to make a purchasing decision and nobody is thinking about hiring a professional (particularly a CPA or an attorney). So what are you supposed to do if you're an entrepreneur, a sales executive or a CPA or a lawyer? Focus! You read that correctly. Keep your eye on the objective. Your goal was never to get just one client. Your goal was always to be viewed as the preeminent provider of your product/service. While this may be the worst time to try and get someone with economic authority (a buyer) on the phone, this is the PERFECT time to write an article, white paper or a book. It is also the perfect time to update your website or start a direct mail campaign. This is the ideal time to go through your database and clean it up - to ensure that you have the best contact information for all the people you will be contacting in a few weeks - when they return from vacation. My point: Mid-Summer and Mid-December are the ideal times of year to focus on the things that keep you busy the rest of the year. If you want to avoid peaks and valleys in your business, you need to take this opportunity to focus on your goals and map out a plan for achieving them. Need some guidance? Here is a link to a six-video lead generation series I just finished recording and posting on my YouTube channel. Watch all six videos and then determine what you will do, right now, to get new business in the door in 3 or 4 weeks. Remember: Even though people are on vacation, they can still read, absorb information and watch videos. In fact, I've found this is the perfect time of year to connect with people who want to get the next six months off to a FAST START. Watch this NOW: How To Get Leads in July Regards, Dave Lorenzo |
