Thank you for your patience and understanding! | | This Weekend at Dazzle @ Baur’s | | Rich Chiaraluce Quintet presents the music of Horace SilverThursday, Sept. 30 - 7pm This concert is a tribute to the great jazz pianist and composer Horace Silver, featuring Rich Chiaraluce on tenor saxophone and Greg Gisbert on trumpet. Both musicians are renown in the jazz society as in the rhythm section. Horace Silver was an American jazz pianist, composer, and arranger, particularly in the hard bop style that he helped pioneer in the 1950s. As a player, Silver transitioned from bebop to hard bop by stressing melody rather than complex harmony, and combined clean and often humorous right-hand lines with darker notes and chords in a near-perpetual left-handed rumble. His compositions similarly emphasized catchy melodies, but often also contained dissonant harmonies. Rich Chiaraluce (Tenor Saxophone), Greg Gisbert (Trumpet), Jeff Jenkins (Piano), Gonzalo Teppa (Bass), Todd Reid (Drums) |
