PHOTO OF THE MONTH FOR DECEMBER
The land I love

Welcome to 2020! It’s a new year, full of new possibilities for adventure. You could say it’s like the open road in this spectacular wintry shot by Photo Club member Stephanie Janes — we don’t know where it leads, but we have a feeling it’s somewhere beautiful. Wherever your travels take you this year, be sure to share your best shots with the Photo Club for a chance to be featured online or in Canadian Geographic magazine! Want your photo to be chosen as a Photo of the Week? Upload your best shots to one of our Assignment Galleries for your chance to be featured!

LAST CHANCE: Enter the Canadian Wildlife Photography of the Year competition!

From the mightiest grizzly bear to the tiniest chickadee, Canada’s biodiversity is worth celebrating and protecting. We’re looking for your most spectacular shots of Canadian animals in action, birds, urban wildlife, plants and trees, and wildlife close up (macro shots). We also have a category just for young photographers, so encourage the kids in your life to pick up a camera as well! Winners will receive great prizes from Nikon and Vistek, and see their work published in Canadian Geographic magazine. The contest closes January 31, so don’t delay — enter now!

10 Photo Club members whose work we’re loving right now

The Canadian Geographic Photo Club launched in 2008 as a way to encourage photographers to share their unique corner of Canada with other Canadians. Since then, the Club has grown to include more than 11,000 active members, some of whom log on daily to share what they’ve discovered on a recent hike, a trip to a province or territory they’ve never visited before, or even just in their own backyard. Over the years, we’ve gotten to know many of our Photo Club members personally and look forward to their new work. This year, we’ll be spotlighting some of those members, starting with these 10 standout photographers.
