Heat and salt are enemies of cookware. Do not use excessive heat. It will cause rainbows on metal cookware and discoloration on enameled cast iron like Le Creuset.

A lot of old recipes from the 1940's give an easy way to mash a small amount of potato or any soft fruit or vegetable. "Rub through a sieve" is a typical instruction in old recipes. I didn't know what this meant, so I tried it.

Clean Jewelry at Home

Scrub your good jewelry clean with an old toothbrush and some toothpaste. Rinse it clean in warm water and drop it into a small container of gin. Leave it for a couple of hours or overnight. Jewelry sparkles as good as new.
