Plus 30% off when you subscribe to an annual plan
Howdy, Buffering reader! Itâs your friendly neighborhood streaming man, Joe Adalian. |
First, let me say thank you for signing up for the newsletter and for checking it out every week. It certainly hasnât been tough finding things to cover since we launched back in January 2020. Disney+ and Apple TV+, which were just a few weeks old then, have since been joined by a slew of streaming contenders angling for attention: HBO Max, Peacock, Discovery+, Paramount+. (We donât talk about Quibi.) While broadcast and basic-cable networks have faded even further from the pop-culture zeitgeist, their likely replacements â free, ad-supported streamers such as Pluto, the Roku Channel, Tubi, and IMDb TV â have exploded. And within the past few weeks, weâve seen a big uptick in merger and acquisitions activity, with WarnerMedia getting engaged to Discovery Networks and Amazon announcing its intention to snatch up MGM. It hasnât been dull â and I donât anticipate the next 18 months will be any less interesting. |
Buffering will continue to monitor this ever-changing landscape, and Iâm not alone in covering the wide world of television: My colleagues at Vulture and New York Magazine are constantly coming up with fresh, fascinating angles on the flood of content being released into our homes (and, now that itâs safe again, our theaters, galleries, and concert halls.) Youâll see some of the best of what we do in our upcoming TV Issue, out on June 21, which you can get for free when you subscribe today. |
The issue will include Rachel Lindsay going deep on her experience with the Bachelor franchise, while Iâll be sizing up the state of the streaming wars with a look at which platforms have the most heat right now. Plus: a Gossip Girl set visit by Hunter Harris, a profile of comedian Tim Robinson byKathryn VanArendonk, and more. |
Weâre only offering this special 30% discount and a complimentary copy of the upcoming TV Issue to Vulture readers who subscribe to annual plans by Tuesday, June 15. If youâre able, I hope youâll consider supporting my work at Buffering and the efforts of all my colleagues by becoming a subscriber. Just select your preferred plan type(Annual Digital or Annual Digital + Print) and look out for home delivery of the magazine the week of June 21. |
