Energy Realism last week touched on energy security and why the poor countries copying our fossil fuel-based path to development is a good thing, a really good thing.

Emily Arthun got us started last week with a much-needed wakeup call: the U.S. should NOT be importing electricity from Canada, or anywhere else for that matter. We have enough energy resources, and this reliance on foreign power is not only unnecessary but also counterproductive to our energy security, economic stability, and national sovereignty. But as Duggan Flanakin hits on, there is some really good news as Energy Realism is taking hold. Net Zero dreams are starting to die, in what can only be considered a collapse in green dreams. Voters last November rejected the grandiose plans of the Biden Administration to abandon gasoline- and diesel-powered engines, natural gas hot water heaters and other appliances, and coal- and gas-fired power plants. But who foresaw the total reversal of the anti-business regulatory climate of the past 50 years? And the poor countries are increasingly taking note. Vijay Jayaraj gives us the case in Africa, where ongoing oil and gas investments are pumping out economic miracles. Nations once relegated to the margins of economic discourse are now sprinting toward prosperity, their trajectories propelled by a single, unifying force: energy.
