While we remain closed, dive into the museums’ collections through the weekly Ho Family Student Guide Tours, which allow you to explore ancient and contemporary works, old favorites and new finds, every Thursday and Saturday. We’re thrilled that the ever popular Student Guides are back to brighten the days of winter, and we’d love for you to join these creative conversations. This week on Harvard Art Museums from Home: The Student Guide Tours are well under way, running on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. The theme on Saturday, February 20 is photography and racial justice. On Thursday, February 25, explore the relationship between art and the origins of its creation. Finish up the week on Saturday, February 27 by examining works that are shaped by decay and generated through destruction. If you haven’t registered for the upcoming Bauhaus-themed live Art Talk on Tuesday, February 23, you can still sign up on the website. Join us! Not to be missed on Friday, February 26 is a conversation between curators on how to approach photography collections that depict colonial violence, racist stereotypes, or other difficult imagery. Coming up quickly is a new Art Study Center Seminar, on Friday, March 5. Professor Dennis Geronimus of NYU will discuss a selection of Pontormo’s unforgettable figure studies with drawings curator Joachim Homann. Our friends at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study will host an online lecture on Tuesday, March 2 with conceptual artist Fred Wilson, who was behind the groundbreaking exhibition Mining the Museum (1992) at the Maryland Historical Society. |
