An expert musical storyteller with a gorgeously rich, expressive sound, award-winning trombonist and composer Nick Finzer presents his latest record Cast of Characters—partly an homage to musical mentors and partly a deep probe into the nature of influence with a strong message of self-empowerment.

March is Women in Jazz Month! To celebrate and recognize the talent and influence of the many women of jazz past and present, Dazzle is featuring the works of Denver artist SA Bennett of Black Belle Studio for all of March. Come enjoy an opportunity to meet the artist and view her works, and then stick around for Calixto Oviedo’s Afro-Cuban Jazz Quintet!

One of the indisputable creators of the rhythmic patterns of contemporary Cuban music, Calixto Oviedo is a living legend who has assimilated the influences of great Afro-Cuban and jazz drummers to forge a style that has become its own standard for later generations. A former member of Cuban supergroup NG La Banda, he now brings his Afro-Cuban jazz quintet to Dazzle, featuring Latin Grammy-nominated vocalist Lily Hernandez.

Combining traditional and contemporary Latin ska, Roka Hueka is a band with members originating from Mexico, El Salvador, and the US. Singer Andres Gonzalez brought his love for energetic ska from Chihuahua, Mexico to Colorado. Finding time from his job as a construction worker, he formed one of Denver’s only Latin ska groups in the fall of 2013.

Throughout their storied 43-year history, the Yellowjackets have recorded 25 albums, received 17 Grammy nominations, performed countless sold-out tours, and enjoyed worldwide critical acclaim and commercial success. Seamlessly blending post-bop, fusion, and contemporary jazz, this legendary ensemble now brings their seminal sound to Dazzle for the very first time.

Possessing boundless reserves of ardent energy and infectious groove, widely acclaimed artists Tony Monaco and Fareed Haque join forces with Paul Wertico to light up the stage with their hard-hitting organ trio.
