| Join us Sunday, September 24 for a CAM Community Day with Danza Guerreros Quetzalcoatl as they celebrate the traditions and culture of Mexico through Aztec dance. Performing in full regalia, the dancers are a multi-generational ensemble dedicated to maintaining customs in their community. Join us for dancing outdoors in the Sculpture Park with this dynamic group of thirty dancers.!

| Join us on Saturday, October 7 for "Untitled" (Generations) as we welcome various community partners to a safe space to share information, resources, and host fun family activities in CAM’s Reception Hall.
This event takes its inspiration from “Untitled” (L.A.), 1991 by ground-breaking conceptual artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres now on view in Love. Join us as we celebrate the joy, connections, and promise of love across time and generations.
At 2 PM we will welcome Techmoja for a moving performance of Loud As We Want followed by a thoughtful movement workshop. |
| Join us on Saturday, October 21, 4:30 to 9 PM for the third annual FlowILM. The evening will feature an array of artists, scientists, local non-profits and UNCW labs / programs focused on local / global water issues. FlowILM is a free community art event committed to articulating the un/stable relationships between organisms, environments, creativity & technology.
Participating organizations and labs will share their research with a focus on educational and family-oriented activities, while the second half from 6:30 to 9pm will feature live performance, dance, sculpture, installation, light and sound work. |
| Monument, a new exhibition funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts opening November 9, takes inspiration from Boundless, the public sculpture on Cameron Art Museum’s grounds by Stephen Hayes honoring the United States Colored Troops (USCT) and their fight for freedom.
Through their work, artists Sonya Clark, Willie Cole,Stephen Hayes, Juan Logan, Alison Saar, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Kara Walker, and others create a dialogue acknowledging, questioning, and confronting the idea of commemoration in the built environment in the United States.
Exhibition includes loans from Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park and the collection of the Cameron Art Museum. |

| Virtual Conversation Talk About Art with Dayana Camposeco Wednesday, September 6, 2023, 6 PM FREE
Join us for a conversation with Dayana Camposeco and CAM's Executive Director Heather Wilson. Dayana's work is currently on view in Traer a Luz/Bring to Light, an exhibition featuring work with her brother Diego Camposeco. This exhibition of photography explores the bonds of trust – between sister and brother, photographer and subject, family and community as well as light and darkness, life and death, work, and culture within the context of southern Latinx identity.
Dayana Camposeco’s [b.1994, Mexican-American Visual Artist] artwork reflects an abstract perspective of everyday life. Dayana will be graduating from Cape Fear Community College this following year and intends to pursue a Digital Arts degree at UNC Wilmington. Dayana’s goal and vision is to celebrate diversity and highlight beauty while exploring themes of migration, systemic poverty, and queerness. As a current queer Latinx photographer based in Wilmington, NC, their current work focuses on intimate portraiture while exploring social, political, and cultural themes within traditionally underrepresented groups in the American South. |

Linda is a garden historian and the author behind the book Presidents' Gardens and The Gardens of Bunny Mellon. Linda grew up in Northern Virginia spending happy youthful hours at the gardens in Mount Vernon, Colonial Williamsburg and Washington, DC.
A gardener in her own right, Linda enjoys any opportunity to create gardens that allow people to experience beauty effortlessly.

| Dance Tracing Gesture with Karola Luttringhaus Saturday, September 9, 2023, 2-4:30 PM Free with museum admission
Tracing Gesture is a choreographic and academic project that investigates meaning in art, movement, and choreography. At 2 PM, Karola performs a new dance piece entitled Gestures of Love, a thought and movement experiment where gesture serves as the basis for dance, and dance is a form of language. Afterwards, gather in the Love exhibition to meet the artist and discuss her choreographic practice, how she creates movement, and her work with language, meaning, and storytelling. Karola states, " I examine how the body's movements speak to me and through me, and I am inviting an open discussion around how we assign and discover meaning in art in general, including the works of the current Love exhibit at CAM."
Following the performance and discussion the artist will offer an opportunity to deepen the conversation around gesture, meaning, and dance by inviting guests to explore their own unique gestures of love by creating a collection of movement sentences that assemble into a "multi-faceted story of love". No experience or dance background necessary. All ages. All abilities.

Enjoy a morning of music in the galleries, adapted exhibition exploration, as well as optional hands-on activities and the choice to bring a boxed lunch to enjoy in our café or courtyard area. Geared towards individuals in the earlier stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia, this program is offered on Mondays when we are otherwise closed to the public to ensure a quiet and calm environment. Groups or individuals with their loved ones are welcome.
