Join us on Thursday evening for an artist talk in the gallery with Nico Amortegui in which he'll discuss his work & process, inspiration and more.


Amortegui is a Charlotte-based artist who was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. He learned many artistic skills and trades growing up in a family filled with creative types from architects and carpenters to designers, photographers and artists.

Spend the day with Lugar de Encuentros / Place of Encounters artist Nico Amortegui and explore abstract portraiture with attention to how lines, shape, and color work together.


Flow of process will be discussed with the goal of guiding participants to identify and discover their own.

Children Ages 2 and Under: Free / Children up to 2 years: free


In honor of Day of the Dead, we will read I Remember Abuelito: A Day of the Dead Story / Yo Quiero a Abuelito: Un Cuento del Dia de los Muertos . We will create artwork inspired by our story and explore our exhibitions together.


Our book will be read in both English and Spanish, and a Spanish-speaking staff member will offer translation of the gallery exploration and art project instructions.

Join CAM's Cultural CuratorDaniel Jones for Monuments and Collective Memory as we take a deep dive into local 19th century Wilmington history through the lens of 20th century and contemporary iconography. Using Boundless as well as pieces from Monument (opens Nov. 10) to discuss how we approach certain stories collectively as a community. Adult: All Levels -
