| Join us this Thursday evening at 6:30 PM for CAM After Dark with Ben Billingsley as he leads an insightful conversation surrounding The Game Changers: Diebenkorn, Frankenthaler, and Rauchenberg. Guest curator and local artist Ben Billingsley will present an in-depth illustrated lecture on the life and works of artists Richard Diebenkorn, Helen Frankenthaler, and Robert Rauschenberg. These three mavericks engaged the cultural juggernaut of Abstract Expressionism in unique ways, establishing a visual language of their own. By introducing specific early landscape and figurative works by Diebenkorn and Frankenthaler, Ben will help the viewer traverse the path from representation to full abstraction in their work. Learn about Rauschenberg’s studies at Black Mountain College and his lifelong exploration of various mediums and artist collaborations.

| Elisabeth Chant
Elisabeth Chant (February 7, 2025 – April 27, 2025) North Carolina artist Elisabeth Chant (1865-1947) made an indelible mark on Wilmington’s art community. She became known for her vibrant landscapes and scenes of the North Carolina coast. Chant also created decorative designs and explored mysticism and spiritual themes, which informed her artistic style. She was instrumental in developing Wilmington’s cultural landscape, founding art classes, mentoring young artists, and establishing a community art association. This exhibition explores the people and landscapes of Chant’s world. |

| | BEGINNER POTTERY WRAP UP Instructor: Renato Abbate This is a 4 week wrap up of Beginner Pottery, continuing to focus on hand building techniques, including pinch, coil, and slab building. You will learn the basic methods for building with clay, embellishing the surface, and understanding the characteristics of different glazes as well as wheel instruction. Instruction is provided during the weekly class session, and studio time is available on selected days at the Museum School. Your supply fee includes 25lbs of clay and glaze firing of your coursework

| | SKETCHING AND PAINTING CARNIVOROUS PLANTS Instructor: Carolyn Faulkner Experience the intriguing world of carnivorous plants up close. Our first session starts at the Stanley Rehder Carnivorous Plant Garden, where you can take photos or create quick sketches of these amazing plants! Afterward, we'll return to the CAM to continue sketching. If it rains on the first day, photos will be provided, and the class will begin at the CAM instead. We'll dive into contour drawing, shading, simplifying complex shapes, color mixing, and layering colors to achieve depth and texture.
