CAM Spotlight:

Call For USCT Descendants!

Are you a descendant of the USCT? Was your community impacted by the legacy of the USCT?

Join our USCT Oral History Project!

CAM’s Cultural Curator Daniel Jones is partnering with Emmy-award-winning filmmaker Adam Alphin to gather video interviews with community members to tell the broader story of the impact of the USCT on southeastern NC.

The public is invited to schedule a time to come and be interviewed. Please email

[email protected] for more information.

Upcoming Interview Dates

Williston Middle School June 3rd 10-1pm

Cameron Art Museum July 8th 10-1pm

The goal of this oral history project is to take a battle from over 150 years ago and connect it to 2023 through stories of living descendants.

The reason why anyone fights for what they believe in is to make a better world for those who come after them.

The local and national community impacts brought on by the USCT’s success during and after the American Civil War can still be felt and seen today. Their impact can be seen in the battle grounds they fought on, the structures they built, the communities they protected, and more importantly the minds and hearts of those walking the earth today who are direct descendants of these men or descendants of those who lived in areas affected and lived in by the USCT.

These stories take Boundless out of a strictly memorialization lens and moves it to a realm of lived experiences that inform everything we do.

Cameron Art Museum has no umbrella institution. We exist through the generosity of our community of members and donors.

A CAM Membership allows us to present powerful work like Lugar de Encuentros/Place of Encounters, our newest exhibit that elevates the voices of NC's Latin American population. Membership also allows us to create programming like CAM Community Days with FREE admission which brings people together from across our community.

CAM Members receive free admission, passes for friends and family, invitations to special members-only events and tours like member preview tours, and discounts in the shop, Museum School, and for public programs.
