Unconditional Basic Income Europe BASIC INCOME TEA Finland's Basic Income Trial – 5 July | Finland's Basic Income Trial: Failure or Success? | We have a really great edition of Basic Income Tea coming up this Sunday, 5 July, 5-6pm CEST: I will have the pleasure to discuss about the results of the Finnish basic income experiments with Olli Kangas and Philippe Van Parijs. Register here to be part of the discussion! The 2017-18 basic income experiment in Finland has been met with great expectations across the world. Its first results have, however, not provided a clear answer to the main question, whether basic income helps people to find a paid job. Together with the decision of the then right-wing government not to prolong it after the first two years this has led to reports in international media classifying the experiment as "failed". Has this really been the case? What do the results tell us, despite all flaws of the experiment? How have they influenced the political debate on social assistance and basic income in Finland and across Europe? |
Want to meet other basic income advocates, share your thoughts via live chat, and be able to put your questions to our guests? Then please register here until Saturday, 4 July, so we can send you the connection details for Zoom! If you just want to listen and enjoy, you can also watch the live stream on the UBIE website and on our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) starting Sunday, 5 July, 5 pm CEST. | Yours unconditionally, Leire Rincón UBIE Chair | VIEWS: The Unheard Results of The Finnish Basic Income Experiment | The results for the Finnish basic income experiment were published on the 6th of May 2020. The results were dubbed final, but there is still more information to come.
