Righting a wrong: Green onion cereal finally coming to Korea after 16 years Americans are used to marketing stunts by food companies that allow fans to vote on upcoming flavors. Well, 16 years ago in South Korea, Kelloggs of Korea held a contest where fans could decide on the newest flavor of Chex cereal. The options fell between chocolate (a favorite) and green onion (an obvious joke entry). Needless to say, green onion won the popular vote, but Kellogg’s decided to release chocolate instead — citing duplicate votes. But now, Kellogg’s is finally giving the people what they want with honest-to-goodness green onion-flavored Chex. The result is a savory snack that goes great with beer.
