Dear Reader,
My strongest memories of Passover center around storytelling. Growing up, seders were full of enthusiastic readings and retellings of the Exodus story — a narrative that, for so many of us, forms the root of our identity as a Jewish people.
Today, as I prepare my home and my kitchen to host my own family seder, I’m struck by the way storytelling has such a powerful presence in Jewish tradition, and in Jewish communities. As antisemitism continues to rise, Jewish stories matter more than ever before. We need your support to ensure that Jewish voices are never silenced, and that Jewish storytelling always has a place in the global conversation. "Jewish stories matter more than ever." The Forward’s unique perspective brings a context and nuance readers can’t find anywhere else. Our digital platforms create space for the hard conversations around race, culture, and politics, while our Yiddish and archival content connect us to the history and legacies still so relevant to our communities today. Maybe it’s bashert — destiny — that our 125th anniversary coincides with this holiday of storytelling, community, and legacy. I can’t think of a better time to support the power of stories to shape conversations, connect generations, and bring the lessons of history into the future. At my seder table this week, I know I won’t just be telling the Passover story — I’ll be talking about why we tell it. Join me in supporting another 125 years of independent, courageous Jewish journalism, grounded in the stories that matter. Support the Forward today.
