I have been considering a thought problem. Imagine you come across a blind and deaf person. Would they care about: Your race? Your religion? Your gender? Your disabilities? Your physical looks? Your political party? Your age? Of course not! The only thing they would care about is how you treated them. They would care about the virtues (or lack of virtues) you demonstrated to them. Here is the controversial part. I am considering identifying as a virtueist (I just made up that term). I think this is close to what the great Martin Luther King had in mind when he said “judge not the color of their skin, but the content of their character.” Now imagine with me a little bit more. Imagine you were in a terrible accident and you suddenly became blind and deaf. When it comes to people would you care about this list: Race Religion Gender Disabilities Physical looks Political party Age Or would you care about this list: Love Integrity Humility Respect Kindness Compassion Selflessness Self-control Positive Something to think about! (even if it is a little controversial) Choose to Win! Tom
