100th Anniversary of the Independent Air force 

During WWI, military strategists desperately wanted to overcome the deadlock of trench warfare. Aircraft became the weapon of choice,  and bombing raids became a popular method of attack. By June 1918, the British Military realised what an asset aircraft was to warfare and formed the UK Royal Air Force (RAF).
