Met Gala 2024 Red Carpet: The Best, Worst and Wackiest Menswear Looks

Manhattan was buzzing on this first Monday in May, and for good reason — it’s the Met Gala, baby. The cultural touchstone, arguably fashion’s biggest night, always delivers on the promise of outrageous outfits, celebs galore (this year’s festivities are set to feature, among others, the ultra-horny cast of Challengers) and, naturally, Anna Wintour looking aloof.

Celebrating this year’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Gala may be closed to the public, but the red carpet is very much open for business. And with a theme entitled “Garden of Time,” you can bet your Thom Browne-covered ass that InsideHook is going to be covering it all, here for the good, the great and the extremely ugly.

You'll find the best and the brightest alongside the downright atrocious, featuring the likes of Donald Glover and Dan Levy in designers like Tom Ford and Loewe. One thing is for certain: you can expect a ton of massive menswear moments and just as many florals. Tap here or below for the best, worst and wackiest menswear from the Met Gala 2024 red carpet.

Yesterday we asked what would be your ideal perfect summer vehicular adventure. Here are the results:

  • About 14% of you are going off-roading in the desert.
  • Around 23% of you are going festival-hopping in an RV — and the same percentage of you are also towing along a boat on a road-tripping to a cabin.
  • The majority of you (40%) are cruising the ocean in a convertible.

TAG Heuer Teamed Up With Kith on an Awesome New Collab Watch

Nearly 40 years after TAG Heuer's Formula 1 debut, Kith has teamed up with TAG Heuer to relaunch the Formula 1 line in a series of 1980s-esque, limited-edition pieces in 10 different colorways, on both rubber straps and steel bracelets. Made from Arnite — a high-performance plastic — and steel and upsized to 35mm, they slot in well with today’s middle-of-the-road sizing and unisex aesthetics, and their $1,500 price makes them a sort of higher-end competitor to the highly collectible and popular MoonSwatch and Scuba Fifty Fathoms collections. In order to replicate what made the 1980s watches special, TAG Heuer even tracked down the original case supplier and molds, though sapphire crystals (instead of acrylic) and rubber straps (instead of plastic) mean these 10 newer versions should hold up much better over time.

Michael Jordan Continues to Shape the Definition of an NBA Superstar

Kirk Goldsberry, the bestselling author of Sprawlball and one of the leading experts in basketball analytics, digs into how shots like the one Maxey buried against the Knicks have become nearly commonplace in The Association in his new book Hoop Atlas: Mapping the Remarkable Transformation of the Modern NBA. According to Goldsberry, who is a professor and the executive director of the Business Of Sports Institute at the University of Texas at Austin, the shot that Tyrese Maxey made last week is a distant relative of a jumper that Michael Jordan nailed more than four decades ago. What else does Goldsberry’s Hoop Atlas contain and why did he write it? We asked him.

10 Essential Omakase Experiences in NYC

In NYC, sushi seems to be approaching pizza in terms of availability. You can eat well for less than $10 at some takeout spots, while trendier locations approach the cost of airfare. Then there’s omakase, a set-price, multi-course (usually 12 or more) experience that translates to “I leave it up to you.” This is the best way to sample a little bit of everything, albeit at what for most leans towards special-occasion prices. Options under $100 do exist, but the norm is more in the $200 range. For that, you get to sit across from the chef and have a personal experience not otherwise possible in a traditional sushi bar. Here's where you should go.
