This is how we live our values

Last week, we shared The Forward's updated Mission, Vision and Values — our guiding principles for the work we have ahead in 2020 and beyond. Our Values name what we hold at the center of our reporting: Integrity, Courage, Independence, Accountability and Yiddishkeit.
We incorporate these values into every story we cover. Whether it's honoring the integrity of The Forward's history, having the courage to report on difficult topics, maintaining independence in an increasingly noisy world, holding powerful leaders accountable, or celebrating our heritage and shared community, our staff puts these values into action every day. As my colleague Helen Chernikoff says in that video, "Independence means not being beholden to any ideology. But it also means resisting a more generalized pressure to tell just happy stories — because we're Jews writing for Jews."
