How Russell’s Reserve Defies Age With Its Whiskey

This summer, the iconic Kentucky distillery is launching Russell’s Reserve 15 Year Old, a limited-edition offering that pushes the boundaries of extended aging. It’s an exceptional bottle and an exciting new chapter in the distillery’s award-winning history, which includes both 10 and 13 Year Old bourbons, a few single barrels and rye whiskeys. Master Distillers Jimmy and Eddie Russell have been at it for over 100 years between them, and they're clear on what is the most important part of the whiskey-making process. "All of our whiskey goes into the barrel the same way — using the same mashbill and proof," says Eddie. "But the aging process is where the difference is made."

Santoni Redefines Elegant Luxury and Comfort with Their New Lightweight Easy Shoe

A Santoni shoe is instantly recognizable, which is part of what makes them so unique. While Italian shoes have a distinct silhouette, narrower and pointier than their British brethren, Santoni has its own aesthetic. You can instantly tell a Santoni shoe by the fine patina — sometimes in deep burgundy or rich brown or black hues — the slightly rounded toes, the inherent heft and the well-crafted details that go into it.

The family-run company, founded in 1975 by Andrea Santoni in the Marche region of Italy and now run by his son Giuseppe, produces up to 2,500 handmade shoes daily by a team of 700 skilled artisans. In their factory, each pair undergoes a meticulous 15-step process, with the leather closely inspected for defects, and all are individually painted. We spoke with Giuseppe Santoni about the Italian brand’s rich DNA.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH
With over 100 combined years of whiskey-making experience between them, it’s no surprise that Russell’s Reserve Master Distillers Jimmy and Eddie Russell — both Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame members — are looking for something more mature and refined in each of their variants. Whether it’s their flagship 10 Year Old bourbon, their outstanding 6 Year Old rye or their recently released 15 Year Old bourbon (good luck finding a bottle), patience is key. As Eddie says, "the aging process is where the difference is made."

How to Spend a Weekend in Panama City, Florida

The name Panama City may elicit images of the neighboring beach, a spring breaker favorite, not to mention its representation on a certain MTV show. But the city itself was founded in 1827 as a fishing village, given its current name in a hopeful attempt to associate its port with the Panama Canal. It sits on the St. Andrews Bay, away from the high-rise condos and party crowds, but you can still find plenty of watering holes and seafood joints amongst the mural-covered downtown to make your weekend a great one.
