Every now and then, someone asks why we put so much work into continuing to publish the Forverts in Yiddish.

I always respond the same way: with so many new possibilities for learning, sharing, and keeping this incredible piece of Jewish American culture alive, how could we not? The Forverts has done that for Yiddish for nearly 125 years — and we plan to continue that for another 125 years.

Earlier this month, we launched Yiddish Brief, a twice-weekly bilingual newsletter that curates the best of all things Yiddish — music videos, events, book reviews, research, and much more. This newsletter is for everyone, from those who have spoken Yiddish their whole lives, to those who know just a bisl, to those who feel a connection to Yiddish but don’t speak or read it.

And it’s just one way the Forverts is innovating. With the hit Yiddish Word of the Day series, our new TikTok account, and so much more, the Forverts preserves our connection to our past and creates a foundation for a vibrant Yiddish culture for the next generation.
