Connecting South Lake: Tile Art Project
In 2021 Connecting South Lake resident group partnered with City of Cockburn to install a new BBQ at Lakelands Hockey and Sporting Facility. The group specifically requested that it be suitable to use in an art project in 2022, here's why:
"We created the community connection art project to celebrate the suburb of South Lake turning 40, whilst still acknowledging the 40000+ years that the Traditional Owners have lived and cared for the land. We have been hosting events with residents to paint the tiles all around South Lake, along with sausage sizzles. The artwork itself will be displayed around the BBQ at Lakelands Reserve. We are hoping to have enough tiles after the Connecting South Lake Christmas fair, and will install the artwork shortly afterwards."

NEW Multicultural Reference Group
Spread the word – City of Cockburn is launching a new Multicultural Reference Group and we are currently calling out for Cockburn residents from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) background to submit an Expression of Interest to be part of this group.
This would appeal to people who want to: Be the voice of Cockburn’s CaLD community Launch new programs, initiatives, projects Make Cockburn a welcoming City for people of all backgrounds Learn and celebrate the vibrancy of existing cultures |

2023 Cockburn Citizen of the Year Awards
Each year on Australia Day, the Community Citizen of the Year Awards gives WA local governments the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding people within the community. This year the Awards are encouraging people from diverse backgrounds to consider nominating, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women, young people, those living with disabilities and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Register your dog or cat before 31 October
All dogs over three months old must by law be registered and microchipped. Cats over six months old must registered, microchipped, and sterilised. Registration is due by 31 October, and we offer lifetime, three yearly or annual registrations.
Why do I need to register & microchip my pet?
If lost, our rangers have a better chance of returning your pet safely We can provide the right type of services & facilities for your pet It is the law and fines over $200 may be issued.
Don’t forget that your pet needs to be microchipped by a vet before they can be registered. Your pets microchip details are stored on a national database which helps our rangers to return your pet if it’s lost. To retrieve the microchip details, please call your vet.
