Thieves thwarted by brave member of the public after break-in at Mountain Warehouse

Good afternoon,

Today, as the new Covid-19 'Tier' system of restrictions come into force, Lancashire settles rather uncomfortably into its Tier two status.

This is because discussions are underway to potentially move the county, or parts of it, into Tier three , which would mean extended restrictions including the highly controversial closure of pubs, restaurants and gyms.

It comes as Lancashire County Council's leader said last night: "We can get jobs back but not lives."

Meanwhile, a brave member of the public gave chase to two thieves who broke into a Preston outdoor store.

There is confusion over 'mixed messages' at a Preston Thai massage parlour.

And we speak to the owners of a Lancashire gin label, who have risen from the ashes after a terrible accident when a gin still exploded.

Reporter James Holt has also been to Preston market to talk to stall-holders about a new Fiver scheme to encourage people to shop.
