Last month, Australia for UNHCR joined the nationwide #KidsOffNauru campaign, calling for all remaining children and their families to be evacuated from detention in Nauru. Thousands of you joined our call and during this time dozens of children have been evacuated to safety. For others, the crisis continues.

Creating connections

Being forced to start over in a new country can be difficult, but for refugees with a disability it brings extra challenges. After fleeing Iraq with his family, 10-year-old Samer struggled to communicate and lived largely in isolation. But with help from UNHCR, he is learning how to engage with other children.
