A lotâs been written in the aftermath of Facebookâs Capitol Hill hearings. One thing that hasnât, says Karen Webster, is also the one thing that separates Facebook from other platforms that collect and monetize consumer data. Consumer intent, Webster says, is critical to understanding how and why consumers use tech platforms and what data is needed to deliver on that intent. Itâs also what makes Facebook so different from many of the tech platforms lawmakers have wrongly, she contends, put on their hit list.
