If Facebook Wants To Be WeChat, Why Did It Launch Libra?

Facebook has long admired WeChat, and the powerful commerce ecosystem that one billion Chinese people use every day. It’s been the cornerstone of Messenger’s monetization ambitions since 2014, and now, five years later with Libra and Calibra, the global payments foundation hopes to move its monetization meter in that direction.
