Smith. | Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 5, also known as the Reducing Fetal and Infant Mortality Act into law Thursday. The bill comes as the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to rule this year on the constitutionality of a similar law in Mississippi. The measure will ban abortions after 15 weeks gestation unless "two physicians certify in writing that, in reasonable medical judgment, the termination of the pregnancy is necessary to save the pregnant woman’s life" or determine that "the fetus has a fatal fetal abnormality." DeSantis said in a statement that the bill protects "babies in the womb who have beating hearts, who can move, who can taste, who can see, and who can feel pain." He described life as a "sacred gift worthy of our protection." | 'The Chosen' billboards were vandalized? Not quite | | Earlier this week, several dozen billboards across the U.S. promoting "The Chosen" series appeared to have been vandalized. However, it turns out the graffiti was part of a satirical promotion from Angel Studios, the company behind the hit Christian streaming show about the life of Jesus. Some of the billboard ads included doodles over faces and a link to the website "chosensux.com," which links to a YouTube video that features the devil leading a class of demons in which he calls "The Chosen" a "high quality" series that he needs to try to "discredit" and "shut down." In an interview with The Christian Post on Thursday, Jeremiah Smith, who oversees creative and marketing for the series, explained the stunt was meant to target audiences "who have maybe heard about the show, had someone recommend it to them, or just would be interested in who Jesus is, but might not go to church or might not be interested in faith-based media at all."
