I debated sending this newsletter because of what's going on in Ukraine but I wrote most of it before the Russian invasion. It feels like there's not much we can do right now but hope and pray for the people of Ukraine. I've edited today's newsletter down and removed stories that felt superfluous.

Here at home, it's been unseasonably cold (39F-59F) in L.A. but it's nothing like the severe weather taking place in much of the U.S. As I mentioned in yesterday's Daily Travel Tip newsletter, there’s a huge winter storm brewing and the airlines have issued a long list of waivers.

There are too many to include but here's United's full list. Dallas airports aren't even listed so when I saw a huge number of delays and cancelations from DFW and DAL, I looked up the weather and see there's freezing rain. That'll do it! RELATED: Here's what to do if your flight is delayed or canceled

Today's Travel Tip
Today's travel tip is how to deal with travel waivers, including a trick to getting your money back in full instead of a travel credit.

For the third week in a row, I have good travel news to report on the COVID front as cases continue to drop around most of the world and more and more countries and destinations are either opening up or easing entry or mask restrictions.

It's really starting to feel like the pandemic is over even though doctors say it's not. We'll continue to be cautious but we're venturing out more and we just booked a handful of trips as the prices (cash, miles and points) only have one way to go and that's up.

Sanitizing surfaces when you travel can keep you healthier and make you feel more comfortable but don't you hate when your fingers and hands get caught in the germ crossfire? These sanitizing mitts will keep your hands clean while you disinfect around you. Read the story here.
