Hi all,
I hope everyone’s hanging in there. After last week’s difficult start, I luckily rebounded and am feeling predominantly... nothing, but also a lot of anxiety. And I know my kids are feeling it, too.
My older son is scared to go outside if he sees other people. He threw a fit, like a full-meltdown fit, when we told him we would walk to town (safely, I might add). We finally got him out the door wearing a mask and took a nice long walk, which we all enjoyed. My younger son is still clinging to me at every turn and is much more prone to meltdowns now, too.
This anxiety is real, and comes out in surprising ways. That’s why I love senior reporter Catherine Pearson’s piece on the subtle ways your kids are showing their coronavirus anxiety to you. She’s a mom of two boys, too, and we compare notes often. The anxiety awareness requires a whole level of presence a lot of us parents are struggling to find right now, so this piece helped me a lot.
As always, I hope you’re staying safe and well. If you ever want to vent, or anything, email me at [email protected].
Xx Kate
