Matt Ryan, come on down, it's your chance to pick on the Dolphins defense! |
The Dolphins have given up nearly 300 yards per game to go with 13 touchdowns through the air and just one interception, and most recently allowed the best game of Trevor Lawrence's career in Week 6. Earlier in the season, they gave up 386 yards to Derek Carr, and that's not to mention when Josh Allen and Tom Brady absolutely demolished them. In fact, the only QB who hasn't scored more than 20 Fantasy points against them this season is Mac Jones, who only had a career-high in passing yards in his first ever start. |
Yeah, that team is a mess. And the Falcons may not be anymore! they've won two of their last three entering the bye week and dropped 30 in the only loss. Ryan especially has turned things around, averaging 289 yards and 2.7 touchdowns over his last three, one of them without Calvin Ridley. |
After fumbling around for a bit, the Falcons seem to have figured out how to use Cordarrelle Patterson and Kyle Pitts, and Ridley hasn't had his big breakout yet. I think that's coming in Week 7, and Ryan is a consensus top-10 quarterback in our rankings this week -- he's No. 9 for me. This sets up as a great spot for both Ryan and Tua Tagovailoa on the other side to have big games, and we're expecting that from both -- they're the two two streaming quarterbacks this week. |
In the rest of this evening's newsletter we're highlighting the rest of Jamey's top picks for the week at each position, and you can read his thoughts on why he chose Ryan and the rest of them in his Start 'Em & Sit 'Em column right here. |
Tomorrow morning, you'll get your typical Fantasy Football Today newsletter, featuring Dave Richard's Start/Sit picks, updates on all the injuries you need to know about for Week 7, and a preview of Thursday's game between the Broncos and Browns, which features an unnerving amount of questions just 24 hours from kickoff. |
But that's all for tomorrow morning. For now, here's who Jamey is starting and sitting this week: |
Quarterback Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Derek Carr and Tua Tagovailoa |
"I expected Carr to struggle at Denver in Week 6, and I was wrong. After combining for just 24 Fantasy points in his previous two games, and coming off Jon Gruden's resignation, I thought Carr would have another bad game against a good defense on the road. But he scored 25 Fantasy points, which is the fourth time this season he's reached at least that total, and he should be trustworthy in Week 7 against the Eagles. Three of the past four quarterbacks against Philadelphia have scored at least 21 Fantasy points, and the Eagles are among the league leaders in total touchdowns allowed to quarterbacks with 13." |
Sit 'Em: Taylor Heinicke and Daniel Jones |
"The Panthers pass defense has fallen apart lately, allowing 22 or more Fantasy points to Dak Prescott, Jalen Hurts and Kirk Cousins in three games in a row. But Jones has also fallen apart. He suffered a concussion in Week 5 at Dallas and then struggled in Week 6 against the Rams with just three Fantasy points. His receiving corps is depleted with Kenny Golladay (knee), Kadarius Toney (foot) and Darius Slayton (hamstring) all battling injuries, and Saquon Barkley (ankle) could also be out again. I would only use Jones, who is averaging 13.3 Fantasy points in three home games this year, in two-quarterback and Superflex leagues." |
|
Running Back Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Cordarrelle Patterson and Miles Sanders |
"Patterson and Mike Davis are both in play here as starters against the Dolphins, who are No. 3 in Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs. The Dolphins have allowed either 100 total yards or a touchdown to a running back in every game this season, and three times this season two running backs on the same team have scored against Miami (Buffalo, Las Vegas and Tampa Bay). Patterson has either 100 total yards or a touchdown in four games in a row, and Davis scored a touchdown in consecutive games prior to Atlanta's bye in Week 6." |
Sit 'Em: Devontae Booker and Michael Carter |
"Booker got the workload we were hoping for in Week 6 against the Rams with 16 total touches in place of Saquon Barkley (ankle), but he barely did anything with it, scoring just 10 PPR points. He's now had consecutive games with at least 16 total touches, but he's been at 69 total yards or less in each outing. We don't expect Barkley to play again in Week 7 against Carolina, and Booker is just a flex play in most leagues. The Panthers have allowed just two touchdowns to running backs all season." |
|
Wide Receiver Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Jaylen Waddle and Sterling Shepard |
"We'll see if DeVante Parker (shoulder) or Preston Williams (groin) are able to return in Week 7 against Atlanta, and hopefully they don't hinder Waddle much. But even if one or both play against the Falcons, I still like Waddle as a quality starting option in all leagues, with his value higher in PPR. In Week 6 at Jacksonville, with Tua Tagovailoa back from his rib injury, Waddle had 10 catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns on 13 targets. Waddle has now scored at least 16 PPR points in the two games where Tagovailoa has finished, and this is a good matchup against the Falcons, who have allowed five receivers to score at least 16 PPR points this season." |
Sit 'Em: Jakobi Meyers and Henry Ruggs III |
"This isn't the game script to trust Meyers since the Patriots probably won't be chasing points against the Jets. His best games this season have come when New England was throwing a lot, which were in Week 3 against New Orleans and Week 4 against Tampa Bay. Mac Jones attempted 40 or more passes in those two outings, and Meyers scored at least 16 PPR points in each game. Otherwise, Meyers has scored 11 PPR points or less in his four other games, including seven PPR points at the Jets in Week 2 when he had four catches for 38 yards on six targets. Meyers is only worth using as a No. 3 PPR receiver, and he's still looking for the first receiving touchdown of his career." |
Tight End Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Dallas Goedert |
"As of Wednesday, we're still waiting for Goedert to be activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list. But if that happens as expected then you should start him in all leagues against the Raiders, who have allowed four touchdowns to tight ends in the past three games against the Chargers, Bears and Broncos. Goedert should see a spike in targets with Zach Ertz gone, and he's headed for a breakout season now that he's the clear-cut top tight end for the Eagles and Jalen Hurts." |
Sit 'Em: Mo Alie-Cox |
"I don't mind stashing Alie-Cox, who has scored a touchdown in two of the past three games. But I'm not ready to start him in Week 7 at San Francisco. Despite the touchdowns, he's failed to get more than five targets in any game this season. And he's been at 50 yards or less in every outing this year. The 49ers also have held their past four opposing tight ends (Philadelphia, Green Bay, Seattle and Arizona) to eight catches, 59 yards and no touchdowns after T.J. Hockenson had eight catches for 97 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets against them in Week 1." |
|
DST Start 'Em & Sit 'Em |
|
Start 'Em: Saints @SEA |
"In Geno Smith's first start in Week 6 at Pittsburgh, he was sacked five times and lost a fumble. Seattle did score 20 points, but I'd trust the Saints DST this week coming off a bye. The Saints have at least two sacks in four of five games this year, and New Orleans has at least one interception in all five outings, with nine total. Smith could be in for a rough outing this week, and the Saints DST has plenty of potential in Week 7." |
Sit 'Em: Colts @SF |
"The Colts DST has been great of late, scoring 15 Fantasy points at Miami in Week 4 and 16 Fantasy points against Houston in Week 6. But this is a step up in competition in Week 7 against San Francisco, and the 49ers should be ready coming off a bye. San Francisco has allowed just four sacks in the past two games, with three turnovers over that span, and the Colts DST is a low-end starter at best in Week 7." |
