Cold weather advisories persist statewide through the morning Thursday. ☁️ It won't be as cold Thursday night, but it'll still be pretty chilly with subzero readings for much of the state. House Republicans advanced a pair of anti-abortion bills Wednesday through a committee, underscoring their intention to press ahead with measures now that could languish if power shifts to shared control next month. 🏥 Ramsey County benefits recipients struggle amid application backlog. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, applications for public assistance have gone up in Minnesota. Jurors in the Feeding Our Future trial learned Wednesday about the enormous scope of the investigation and the scale of the alleged fraud. ❌ Merger with the U and Essentia? Fairview says 'no.' The U of M and Essentia back a plan that would create a nonprofit entity and had invited Fairview to be part of the discussion. Fairview owns health care facilities on the U campus, including the teaching hospital for the university's medical school. ❄️ Anthony Sledwards, Plowabunga! among winners in MnDOT's Name a Snowplow contest. While Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards drives the lane against NBA opponents , "Anthony Sledwards" will soon be clearing driving lanes for Minnesota motorists. ⚖️ 'My life was destroyed': Marvin Haynes sues city of Minneapolis for wrongful incarceration. The lawsuit filed Tuesday accuses officers of fabricating a case against Haynes — ignoring obvious evidence of his innocence and coercing teenage witnesses into giving false statements that implicated Haynes. 🔎 Hennepin County authorities investigating after drug-laced paperwork found in jail. During a planned search at the jail on Dec. 31, a K-9 trained in detecting narcotics alerted to a bin containing several documents in an inmate's cell. Some of those documents tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl. |
