FYI If you’re a parent, you may suspect that your mom feels closer to her grandkids — your kids — than she does to you. A new study out of Emory University finds some truth to that. Researchers used functional magnetic resonance imaging to scan grandmothers’ brains as they stared at photos of a grandchild, the child’s parents and images of an unrelated child and adult. Different types of the brain were activated for each of the different photos, giving us some insight into how grandmas relate to their kids and grandkids.
