Health care facilities are increasingly experiencing violent incidents ranging from verbal harassment to severe physical attacks, according to panelists who spoke during an American Hospital Association webinar. One panelist talked about a female nurse practitioner who was frustrated with her male coworkers and created a plan to poison them with tainted baked goods. Chipotle Mexican Grill has launched Ava Cado, a multilingual AI hiring platform developed by Paradox, to enhance the hiring process across its 3,500 restaurants and support the chain's plans to grow to 7,000 units. Employees in a psychologically safe workplace can speak up without fear, challenge the status quo, disagree and have difficult conversations without fear of reprisal, Grant said. The closing keynote speaker was Joe Sanfelippo, former educator and superintendent of Fall Creek School District in Fall Creek, Wis. Sanfelippo wrote a book 1 Minute Walk to Work. The book is a set of reflections and lessons that Sanfelippo gleaned during his daily 92-step walk from his home to his school office. Those walks changed how Sanfelippo worked with and viewed his students, educators and community. It made him a better leader. I flipped through the book during a break in the workshops. I discovered his insights were relevant to my world too and bought the book. I’m enjoying my time in it, highlighting tips and ideas that can help me in my role and better serve my team.
