Dramatic change has been one hallmark of 2020. The McDougall Program has met these challenging times by transitioning from live-in programs based in Northern California into an even more effective, affordable telehealth program delivering top quality medical care and education to your home or office. We had three important questions to address moving to an online program 1. Will the same results and health goals be met? Participants achieved the same or better improvements in their health with an average weight loss of 3 to 4 pounds; cholesterol reduction of 22 mg/dL; and 90% reduced or discontinued use of medications. 2. Will people learn as well in their own homes as they did in person? We found that most people preferred learning the fundamentals of the program from the convenience of their homes, as they lived their daily lives. The main benefit was when they were met with challenges, they could bring them up in real time and we could work through them together. The single most important aspect is the ability to prepare the right foods in your very own kitchen. Over the course of the program, participants were able to practice different recipes and share cooking tips, additional recipe resources and the best kitchen tools. 3. Will participants get the same interaction with the McDougall Team and participants? The daily chats with the team have been invaluable with some of the favorite moments occurring during these times. This has been an incredible opportunity for people to ask questions, have the direct attention of the entire McDougall Team and personally get to know each other over the course of 12 days. |
