NHS figures have revealed that more than nine in 10 people aged 65 and over in Preston have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
View email online | | | | | Feb 26, 2021 | | | | | | Good evening Two million people across the North West have had their Covid vaccinations - more than half a million of them here in Lancashire. We can see in the daily figures just what a difference the vaccine roll-out, combined with the national lockdown, is making to the number of people admitted to hospital and to those who die from the virus. And yet there are still some people who are reluctant to come forward even when they have been called for vaccination. Now the Queen has entered the debate by saying people should ‘think about other people rather than themselves’ when they consider refusing to have the jab. It is an interesting and in some ways surprising intervention from a reigning monarch. But if the past year has taught us anything it is that we may physically be an island, but if we don’t act with others then we will never truly get on top of this virus. That may be what the Queen is suggesting here. Individual choice is one thing, but in the end we all have a greater responsibility to each other.
