Dear Yogi,

As we continue to explore the components of strength this month, we ultimately unravel the deeper purpose of strength training… Yes, we all want a flat stomach and sculpted arms, we also want to be able to open that jar of pickles all by ourselves, but what also happens when we decide to practice a long and challenging class and stay the course is this: we start to develop Resilience.

Resilience means we can stay calm during a 1-minute plank even though our arms are shaking, or keep breathing mindfully during the 5th round of Sun Salutations, even though our mind is urging us to quit.

And what happens on the mat never stays on the mat! The capacity to endure difficulties and stay present in the face of challenge will permeate other aspects of our life, helping us to deal with whatever might come our way.

Begin your resilience training on the mat and be amazed at where it might take you - below are some ideas of where to start.
